Terne-Coated Stainless Steel 316 combines a corrosion-resistant austenitic stainless steel substrate with a lead-free tin coating, delivering excellent durability and the soft, muted appearance traditionally associated with terne metal.

Beginning with a silvery-gray surface, the material gradually develops a subtle matte-gray patina through natural weathering. The result is a timeless architectural finish that complements both traditional and contemporary roofing designs.

Performance Beyond Appearance

Marine-Grade Protection
Grade 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum, which enhances resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride-rich environments. This makes it a durable material choice for architectural roofing in coastal and other demanding locations.

Terne-Coated Protection
The lead-free tin coating provides the distinctive muted appearance associated with traditional terne metal. Through natural weathering, the surface develops a subtle matte-gray patina that adds lasting architectural character.

Strength & Workability
The austenitic stainless steel substrate offers excellent durability and formability, making it suitable for standing-seam roofing, custom flashing, and detailed architectural sheet-metal fabrication.
