Located in the prestigious Beverly Hills Flats, this custom Richard Landry residence combines traditional French château architecture with precision-engineered architectural zinc roofing.
The project was CSI’s owner, Daniel T Schmidt, first custom luxury residential project in the Los Angeles market, marking the beginning of the company’s involvement in Southern California’s high-end architectural residential sector.
Daniel Thomas Schmidt fabricated and installed the complete custom RHEINZINK standing seam roof system, incorporating numerous handcrafted components including curved domes, mansards, ornamental dormers, decorative finials, and complex transition details.
Every roof section was custom fabricated to complement the residence’s classical proportions while providing the exceptional durability and timeless appearance associated with architectural titanium zinc.

A Milestone for CSI
This residence marked the beginning of CSI Architectural Metal’s work on many of Southern California’s most demanding custom homes.
The experience gained on this project laid the foundation for future collaborations with nationally recognized architects and designers, including work on residences by Wallace E. Cunningham, Olson Kunidg, Belzberg Architects, Eric Owen Moss, Walker Warner, and numerous other landmark residential and institutional projects throughout California and Hawaii.
Today, more than twenty years after installation, the roof continues to demonstrate the exceptional longevity and natural beauty of architectural titanium zinc, with its uniform blue-grey patina and precisely aligned standing seams remaining a testament to the craftsmanship invested in the project.
